Online Traffic School

 

READ FIRST: If you choose to take traffic school YOU MUST complete all of the steps below within 30 days from the date of your citation or else you cannot take traffic school. Please read all the information carefully to make sure you understand the process.

PLEASE READ all the information carefully to make sure you understand the traffic school online process. Failure to do so may, result in a conviction on your driving record. Once you have read all of the information, you must click on the link at the bottom of this page to start the traffic school online.

As of May 1st, 2006; traffic school is only available for moving violations including speeding 1 mph to 25 mph over the posted limit. If you are charged with 26 MPH or above the posted limit, or a class B misdemeanor moving violation you are not eligible for traffic school.

FEES: $25.00 Iron County Administrative Traffic School Fee + ($) Fine amount to be determined by Utah State Bail Schedule + $35.00 Online Course Fee. All fees payable to the Iron County Justice Court. With the exception of the $35.00 Online Course Fee.

IF YOU ARE CHARGED 16-25 MPH OVER THE POSTED LIMIT YOU WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL PLEA IN ABEYANCE FEE OF $25.00.

  • $115.00 for 1-10 MPH OVER LIMIT
  • $140.00 for 11-15 MPH OVER LIMIT
  • $190.00 for 16-20 MPH OVER LIMIT
  • $265.00 FOR 21-25 MPH OVER LIMIT

If you wish to take online traffic school YOU NEED to COMPLETE ALL of the following steps in this order, WITHIN 30 DAYS OF YOUR CITATION! Traffic school only applies to a traffic citation, for a moving violation. It is in lieu of points and or a conviction against your record, not in lieu of fines or fee’s.

The plea in abeyance (traffic school online) consists of:

      1. Pay court fines and fees for plea in abeyance/traffic school to the Iron County Justice Court. Make cashiers check or money order payable to the Iron County Justice Court at P.O. Box 893, Cedar City, UT 84721. You may also pay by credit or debit card at (435) 865-5335 From 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. M-F, MST. There is a $3.00 fee to pay by credit and debit cards.
      If you choose to pay by credit or debit card, AT THE TIME OF PAYMENT YOU MUST INDICATE THAT YOU INTEND TO TAKE THE TRAFFIC SCHOOL. THIS RULE ALSO APPLIES IF YOU ARE PAYING BY MAIL. If you fail to notify the Justice Court at the time of payment that you are going to attend traffic school this will go on your driving record as a conviction.
      2. You must then attend and successfully complete the online traffic school WITHIN 30 DAYS OF CITATION. GoToTrafficSchool.com will charge you a fee of $35.00 to take their online traffic school course. This fee IS NOT in lieu of the above mentioned fees.
      3. Once you complete the course online, you will be mailed an official certificate from GoToTrafficSchool.com. You need to mail, fax, or hand deliver the certificate to the Iron County Justice Court to complete your plea in abeyance.

      4. Abide by any other requirements in the plea in abeyance. After completing traffic school and paying all fees and fines your citation will be dismissed after 90 day probation.

    The Iron County Justice Court WILL NOT send anything to you that states that you have been registered or have completed the course. If you have any questions with any of this information, please call the Iron County Justice Court (435) 865-5335.
