12 pounds of Marijuana seized

December 6, 2011 approximately 1030 hrs, Cedar City Utah.

In the performance of a traffic stop deputies with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office executed a drug seizure of more than 12 pounds of processed marijuana. A subject arrested in possession of said drugs also had more than $1000 cash on his person.

Approximately 1030 hrs. the morning of December 6, 2011 Deputy Wade Lee with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop on an individual for failing to signal while changing lanes. Upon approach of the vehicle Deputy Lee smelt a strong odor of burning marijuana and confronted the driver. The driver indicated that there was only a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle at which time Deputy Lee called for the assistance of Cpl. Jeff Malcom and his K-9 Duke. Upon the performance of a search of the Toyota Four Runner SUV the marijuana was located. Upon search incident to
arrest of the subject driving the vehicle, the cash was located.
