WHAT WE DO
ABOUT PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Iron County Outdoor Recreation operates and maintains two beautiful recreation areas: Wood’s Ranch and Three Peaks.
Woods Ranch Recreational Area is a day-use only area located 12 miles east of Cedar City along scenic Highway 14. Wood’s Ranch is open May through October and is a popular place to picnic, hike, bike and fish. For picnicking, Wood’s Ranch has two pavilions with fire grills that are available for reservations. This scenic recreational area is also starting point for the 32 mile Virgin River Rim hiking trail. Also located at Wood’s Ranch is a popular fishing spot for children 12 and under called Kid’s Pond. This pond is stocked every spring with Rainbow and Brook trout.
Iron County and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) have teamed up in a cooperative effort to develop and maintain the 6,500 acre Three Peaks Recreational Complex. The Iron County portion of Three Peaks is great for group gatherings, rock crawling, picnicking, camping for large groups as well as individuals, and the shooting range. Two pavilions with fire grills in the picnicking area are available for reservations. Also available within this complex managed by BLM are OHV/ATV trails, mountain bike trails, a radio control flying field, and an equestrian area.
